The Cape Town Central City Improvement District (CCID) has just completed its sixth annual Online Residential Survey that called on all CBD residents to make their voices heard towards creating the downtown lifestyle they wish to see.
The CCID has been conducting annual online residential surveys since 2013 with people living in the CBD and its immediate surrounding “feed in” areas. For the sixth edition of the survey, which has just been completed, 137 people participated.
While the CCID considers the survey a “dipstick” in terms of the actual number of residents it is believed live in the CBD, it is nevertheless an indicator of what these residents do – or don’t – like about their downtown lifestyle, as well as their hopes and dreams for its development into the future.
The responses of the survey will now be analysed and compared to those of previous years. Full results will then be released in early 2019. The results are not only fed back by the CCID’s communications department to the organisation’s operational departments – Safety & Security, Urban Management and Social Development – but the overall analysis is released to the media and is also used in the CCID’s annual investment guide, The State of Cape Town Central City Report. The published results also help prospective residents who are contemplating a move to an urban environment to make decisions about whether the downtown lifestyle is the right lifestyle for them.
By giving the CCID input on the Cape Town Central City’s residential environment all participants were also given the chance to win one of three cash prizes in a draw. And the following individuals were the lucky winners:
- 1st prize of R1 500: Brandon Booysen
- 2nd prize of R1 000: Siew L. Tai
- 3rd prize of R500: Barry Solomon
The CCID would like to congratulate all the winners and to extend its gratitude to each and every one of the 137 respondents that completed the survey. The CCID would also like to extend a special thank you to Siew L. Tai, for donating his prize money towards the CCID’s Show you care campaign. The donations that the CCID receives are distributed to the organisation’s primary partners in the Central City which include The Homestead, Ons Plek, Youth Solutions Africa, The Carpenter's Shop, Khulisa Social Solutions, Straatwerk, U-turn Homeless Ministries, The Haven, and TB HIV Care.
